Ethical Start Preschoolers at the ECC are the beneficiaries of an award-winning values training course developed by the Jewish Community Center Association, An Ethical Start® . Based on an ancient Jewish text Pirkei Avot—Ethics of the Fathers, this multi-media program deepens family commitment to the practice of ethics and values. An Ethical Start® is a groundbreaking way for students, families and teachers to study a classical text and develop a shared vocabulary for raising young children. We have expanded the use of the program beyond Preschool to ensure we are reaching all of the children at the ECC. Now the values behind this curriculum guides the names of each classroom and the monthly themes all classrooms program around. An Ethical Start® is funded in part by a generous multi-year gift from Sabes JCC members Merle and Mort Kane.
