Diaspora Boy with Writer and Artist Eli Valley

January 24 @ 7:30 pm

$14

The Twin Cities Jewish Humor Fest along with Books and Brewhaha presents: DIASPORA BOY: COMICS ON CRISIS IN AMERICA AND ISRAEL WITH WRITER AND ARTIST, ELI VALLEY
Special Warm-Up by The Chosen Few

An evening with writer/artist Eli Valley and his first full-scale anthology, Diaspora Boy, provides an essential retrospective of America and Israel at a turning point. Valley’s work has been featured in The Nation, The New Republic, The Village Voice, The Nib, The Guardian, The Daily Beast, Gawker and elsewhere. His art has been labeled “ferociously repugnant” by Commentary and “hilarious” by The Comics Journal. With meticulously detailed line work and a rich satirical palette peppered with perseverating turtles, xenophobic Jedi knights, sputtering superheroes, mutating golems and zombie billionaires, Diaspora Boy unmasks the hypocrisy and horror behind the headlines. Book sale and signing to follow.

Warming up the crowd for this fun event will be none other than returning favorites and local Jewish improv troupe, The Chosen Few.

$12 ADVANCE; $14 SAME DAY
