Light of Hanukkah Light of Hanukkah features hand-crafted metal Hanukiot (Hanukkah lamps) and a series of new prints by Kurt Nordwall. Nordwall has worked extensively with Inuit art from Alaska and north of Canada, which is evidenced by his print series. The experience of working with metal plates for these prints led him to the creation of his hand-crafted Hanukiot lamps. After a trip the Jewish Museum in New York eight years ago, Nordwall found a special connection with Judaism and its art. When creating a new Hanukiot, he uses his imagination and interest in Jewish history and culture to create a story. Each lamp, made from brass and brazed with silver, is one of a kind, and while some may have similarities, each one is unique. The Hanukiot are an expression of Nordwall’s deep interest in Jewish traditions, history and culture.
