Theatre & Arts
Young artists and art lovers will have the opportunity to explore photography, theater games, improv, painting or sculpture in our unique summer arts experiences. Plus, The Sabes JCC’s Youth Performance program offers an intensive six week program that will culminate with a production of Wonderland High! Options for all ages; dates and times vary based on program.
(ENTERING GRADES 6–12 IN FALL 2017)
Arthur Bloom discovers that Wonderland High is not your ordinary high school. As he makes new friends, Arthur learns to stand up for himself, and helps others learn the importance of self-reliance and commitment to ones’ principles and passions. Filled with an assortment of characters based on Lewis Carroll’s creations, like Principal Cheshire, Alice (of course!), and many more, Wonderland High is an energetic, full-length musical to delight all ages.
This intensive six-week program teaches the fundamentals of theater, music, and dance – all while creating a fully-staged production of the musical, Wonderland High! All participants will perform in the show and will work with professional theater artists who will coach them in the improvement of their acting, singing, and dance skills. Participants engage in daily theater and improv games, participate in workshops such as costume, make-up and set design, swim in the JCC’s outdoor pool, and make meaningful friendships through the theater ensemble they’ll build!
