OLYMPIC CAMP
(Grades K–6)

The 2012 Summer Olympic Games are being held in London this summer. But you can participate in our very own Olympics here at the “J”! From our very own “opening ceremony” complete with a torch run and display of flags made by the campers themselves, to the thrills of sporting and game action that everyone can participate in, you will experience all of the energy and excitement of the real games right here at home! We’ll play some of the same games they will be playing in London (like swimming!), and we will also create a few of our own crazy games and relays that are unique to the JCC Olympics. With our very own “Olympic Park” as our camp headquarters, we will also take some time to learn a little about the heritage and history of the Olympics.

THE AMAZING RACE
(Grades K–5)

Ever seen the TV Show, “The Amazing Race”? This camp will have you laughing and learning all about different places around the world! Each day will include awesome activities, from sports and games to arts and special projects. All activities will teach you about some great places around the world while preparing you to compete in our own version of “The JCC Amazing Race!” For the race, you and a partner will receive a “JCC Passport” and” travel” from country to country participating in different challenges that involve what you learn about different places. The more you learn, the more successful you will be! Are you up for the detours and road blocks along the way?! Your adventure will include some time in the pool and will be videotaped and edited. A JCC Amazing Race episode featuring YOU will be shown on the last day of camp!

CARNIVAL CAMP
(Grades K–5)
August 20–24

This is a unique camp that combines the fun of designing, setting up, and running a fun carnival with the opportunity to help contribute to a group or organization in need. Will it be perilous puzzles, funky fishing, the duck drop, and a dunk tank – or face-painting, the ring toss, and a petting zoo? Campers will spend each day creating (and practicing!) fun carnival games and activities that will be used to put on their very own real carnival on the last day of class! All work and no play is no fun, so we will be sure to take some free time for some open swim opportunities in the JCC pool! The week culminates with a JCC Carnival that campers can invite their families to attend and participate in. All proceeds from the carnival will be donated to a designated group, cause, or organization decided on by the campers themselves. What a great way to have fun while helping others!

QUICKSTART TENNIS
(Ages 4–7)

Skyhawks Tennis with Quickstart is a new format to help kids ten and under learn and play tennis. To create a successful learning environment, we have made modifications to our traditional tennis program. The court is smaller and has shorter nets, the racquets are smaller, and the balls are foam. In addition to developing a love for tennis, athletes will learn the rules and etiquette that make tennis such an exciting game to play. Due to limited court space, these programs fill up quickly. Tennis racquet will be provided. Please bring two snacks, sunscreen, appropriate clothing and water bottle. All participants receive a t-shirt and merit award.

BEGINNING GOLF
(Ages 5–8)

9 am–noon
Campers will learn the fundamentals of swinging, putting, and body positioning. Skyhawks has adopted the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system to its curriculum. SNAG is specifically designed for the entry-level player; SNAG simplifies instruction so that young players can make an easy and effective transition onto the golf course. For safety reasons we utilize special helmets for all campers and keep the instructor-to-camper ratio for this program very low, resulting in limited availability. All equipment provided. Please bring two snacks, sunscreen, appropriate clothing and water bottle. All participants receive a t-shirt and merit award.

MN LYNX AND TIMBERWOLVES CAMP
(Grades 3–8)
August 13–17 at the Sabes JCC

The Minnesota Lynx and Timberwolves will host their annual camp the Sabes JCC this summer. Their combination of professional camp staff, local high school and college players will stress having fun and fundamentals, including games and contests, station drills and shooting instruction.
