PAST EVENTS
See the Winner of Best Documentary of the 2010 Minneapolis Jewish Film Festival:
Inside Hana’s Suitcase
Thursday, November 4, 2010
1 PM
Inside Hana’s Suitcase is a beautiful film that blends documentary with a dramatic re-enactment of a Japanese Holocaust study group whose teacher receives a battered old suitcase that once belonged to a Jewish girl named Hana.
“Were it not for one brave and determined young Japanese Museum director, and for the courage of so many around the world, people who refuse to let us forget the darkest days of history, Hana’s story may never have come to light. That so many young people have been inspired by Hana’s story to learn more about history, to do more in their community, and to make the world a more tolerant place gives us great hope for future generations.” www.hanassuitcase.ca
Eyes Wide Open - Film at St. Paul JCC
Co-sponsored by Minneapolis Jewish Film Festival
The St. Paul JCC will again feature a GLBTQ themed, first run film from Israel in connection with Gay Pride. It is a powerfully emotional drama of forbidden love and the struggle for self-expression within an extremely conformist community. This event is co-sponsored by Jewish Family Service of St. Paul, PFLAG, J-Pride, Jewish Family and Children’s Service and the Minneapolis Jewish Film Festival. (Hebrew, Yiddish dialogue/English subtitles)
