Chief Operating Officer of Programming and Operations


This position is responsible for overseeing all key functions of the JCC programming departments and facilities, while serving as a member of the JCC Executive Management Team.


  • Serve as a member of the Executive Management Team working alongside the CEO and CCO in providing leadership and strategic thinking for the JCC.
  • Oversee key functions of JCC programming areas which includes: Center for Health and Fitness (membership, fitness, and aquatics), Center for Active Adults, Center for Inclusion, Center for Arts and Culture and Center for Youth and Teen (Early Childhood Center, Camp, Afterschool/Schools Out, Sasha’s, BBYO, and other youth/teen programming). Key functions include:
  • o Supervision and mentoring of lead staff
    o Assist with hiring, training, and evaluating staff within department as needed
    o Ensuring programmatic excellence
    o Monitoring budgets and finances to make sure fiscal responsibility for department and JCC
  • Serve as JCC facilities lead. This includes:
  • o Oversee and facilitate Emergency and Safety Committee
    o Foster relationship with EPG (security) and address issues connected to this relationship as they arise
    o Foster relationship with Paragon (IT) and address issues connected to this relationship as they arise
    o Work with facilities staff to ensure housekeeping and maintenance expectations are met
    o Supervision Campus and Community Coordinator
  • Develop and implement JCC metrics program. This includes:
  • o Work with JCC program departments to develop annual key stats focused on process metrics
    o Establish outcome metrics annual calendar of data collection
    o Work with program departments to develop outcome metrics data collection tools and analysis of data
  • Manage Sabes JCC scholarship program. This includes:
  • o Work with program departments to determine potential scholarship needs
    o Develop annual scholarship application, timeline, and process
    o Review scholarship applications and make scholarship decisions within range of scholarship budget
  • Serve as support and point of contact for issues related to Human Resources or legal.


  • Minimum 5 years in a supervision/leadership role
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Must be enthusiastic, professional, and display a positive attitude in effectively performing multiple tasks simultaneously with ability to motivate other toward same performance objectives
  • Ability to respond to and resolve difficult customer situations
  • Organization skills and attention to detail
  • Experience visioning, developing strategic plans, and executing plans with short term and long term goals
  • Knowledge and expertise in programmatic development and operations specifically connected to serving children and families
  • An understanding of budgeting process and fiscal management. Must be able to use excel.
  • Previous experience creating metrics and analyzing metrics data
  • Strong computer and technology skills
  • Understanding of Jewish community and culture
  • Must be able to work flexible hours


  • A Master’s degree in a related field
  • 5+ years in a supervision/leadership role, specifically in a non-profit setting

Director of Development- Donor Relations


The Director of Development- Donor Relations reports to the Chief Executive Officer of the JCC. This person will migrate the Sabes JCC fund development department to a solicitation-based model through the annual fund, tributes, major-gifts, endowments and planned giving. This position must have the ability to understand and communicate current Sabes JCC programming and the long-term vision of a revitalized JCC.


  • Direct all non-event development activities of the agency.
  • Partner closely with the events-based Director of Development - Community Engagement.
  • Oversee department goals and supervise development staff.
  • Cultivate relationships with agency donors and develop relationships with new donors.
  • Oversee ongoing use of data management system to track Sabes JCC fundraising activities and donor cultivation.
  • Create and organize a Fund Development committee of the Board, and work with Board members assigned to this committee.
  • Manage endowment reporting and relationship with fund holders and their legacies.
  • Create and manage stewardship of donors.
  • Develop and execute annual solicitations and work closely with the Marketing Department to establish timelines and concepts.
  • Develop creative and new ideas to attract new donors and stakeholders.
  • Manage the grant writing processes and track proposals and reporting.
  • Manage budget for donor relations and analyze data to accurately and strategically set goals for the organization.


  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years relevant experience, with at least two-years in fundraising experience.
  • Knowledge of Jewish community, endowment, planned giving, annual campaign required.
  • Ability to supervise staff, direct programming, and work as a value-added respectful member of a senior leadership team.
  • A strong ability to communicate and build meaningful relationships with donors is essential.
  • Must be adept at the administration and management of a fundraising department and possess excellent verbal and written communication, and ability to envision the “big picture” with respect to funding the agency’s current and future needs.

Human Resources Specialist


The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of the organization’s human resources functions to ensure strategic processes and best practices are used throughout the agency.


  • Responsible for working with and supporting Department Heads and supervisors with all aspects of the organization’s HR function, including but not limited to employee relations, policies and procedures, onboarding, and terminations.
  • Responsible for the interpretation and application of Human Resources policies and monitoring of compliance; keep organization abreast of changes in employment regulations and laws.
  • Manages on-going record keeping and tracking of employee benefits, employment history and other employee-related material including PTO.
  • Represent organization in Workers’ Compensation, unemployment insurance matters, and member incidents under direction from CEO and COO.
  • Administer and monitor FMLA, STD, and COBRA paperwork.
  • Manage annual open enrollment process and ACA compliance.
  • Process and confirm billing of benefits – HSA, Medical, Dental, etc.


  • Previous experience and knowledge working in the field of Human Resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills & the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization and with professional staff outside the JCC.
  • Ability to maintain the integrity and security of all confidential information, documents and files.
  • Be able to use general forms of technology (email, internet, word, xcel, voicemail, etc.)
  • Ability to function productively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment, work independently and accept direction.

Camp Olami and Summer Quest Job Opportunities

Looking for a summer filled with fun in the sun? Do you want to make a difference in a child's life? Camp Olami at the Sabes JCC is looking for qualified young men and women to serve as staff for the summer. Located in St. Louis Park, Camp Olami offers swimming, sports, drama, art, nature, dance, and much more.

Lifeguards, Water Safety Instructors, Water Safety Aides, and Swim Coaches

We are currently looking for fun, energetic, safe and customer service oriented individuals to help staff our indoor pools and outdoor pools for the summer. (Positions available immediately as well!)


Must posses current certification of the following:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent training)
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent training)
  • American Red Cross First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (or equivalent training)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project and promote a professional image
  • Explain and enforce facility regulations, policies, and procedures to patrons
  • Rescue swimmers in need of assistance
  • Demonstrate proper rescue techniques, including but not limited to, swimming rescues, First Aid, and CPR
  • Administer emergency care to patrons in need of assistance
  • Monitor activities of patrons in the water and on deck and minimized the possibility of patron injury
  • Conduct routine chemical test of the water on a daily basis
  • Keep accurate records of incident reports, maintenance, and chemical testing
  • Lifeguard salaries range from $8.50 to $12.00 DOQ


Water Safety Instructor certification is not required for swimming instructors, but strongly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches various levels and age groups in accordance with the Sabes JCC instructional guidelines
  • Plan lessons, select appropriate drills, and evaluate the student’s progress
  • Present proper demonstrations and explain skills, analyze and correct performance, minimize fear, and use appropriate teaching devices
  • Maintain a safe and positive teaching environment
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare course completion certificates

Swim Coaches

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enthusiastic and positive energy needed to work with beginner through advanced age group swimmers
  • Assisting pool and dry land coaching of different swimming levels (mostly 12 and under)
  • Communicating and working with parents
  • Attending competitions
  • Participating in staff projects, planning, and coordination
  • Promote good sportsmanship and foster a positive and friendly environment for athletes to train in
  • Willing to adopt our team philosophy as it pertains to athlete development both in and out of the water


  • Beginning Fall 2013 Short Course Season
  • 3-4 nights per week approximate hours are 3:30-6:30PM nightly
  • 1-2 weekend meets per month and team functions as they arise
  • Certified USA Swimming Coach Member or have ability to secure coach certifications by August 31th, 2013
  • USA Swimming Coach Experience or high school swimming experience preferred, but not required

Member Experience Associate

The Sabes JCC has a Part Time/Full Time opportunity for a customer focused Member Experience Associate. This position will work a variety of shifts at the fitness check-in desk, on the fitness floor and have administrative responsibilities. Successful applicants will have strong experience in face to face customer service excellence and must have an interest and experience in health and wellness. In addition, a "can do" attitude, excellent multitasking abilities, computer skills and a passion for fitness is required. Massage Therapist

Immediate opening for a part-time professional massage therapist available for night and weekend appointments. Primary responsibilities are performing therapeutic massage designed specifically on the client's individual needs, creating an excellent experience for clients through friendly and helpful attitude and promoting services to build clientele.     Fitness Center Attendant

    Staff will provide a high level of customer service for members in our fitness center. Staff is also responsible for general cleanliness of the fitness center and equipment, providing general instruction on the use of equipment, and providing assistance to members when necessary. Ideal candidates must be enthusiastic about fitness, familiar with cardiovascular and strength equipment, and have general fitness knowledge. This is a part-time position with early morning, evening, and weekend hours available.

    Group Exercise Instructor

    This high energy individual will lead members, in a group environment, through a pre-arranged format of exercises designed to enhance overall fitness, strength and endurance, while ensuring that the safety of the members at all times. The Group Exercise Instructor will also serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness and wellness

    In addition to a minimum of 6 months teaching in a group exercise format, you must possess a nationally recognized group fitness certification and current CPR/AED certification and basic first aid training.

    Youth, Sports and Recreation Job Opportunities

    The Sabes JCC is looking for enthusiastic, motivated and reliable young adults (18+) for various positions working in our youth health and wellness programs. We have several job opportunities within our sports and recreation department, health and wellness department, and working in our kids fitness center (KidsFit). Individuals who are high energy, friendly and enjoy working with children in a sports related or active environment are wanted!

    Daycare Provider for Sasha's Play Space


    The Sasha's Space provider is responsible for providing a safe, positive and nurturing environment while giving excellent care and customer service for children and parents that are using Sasha's Play Space.


    • Responsible for the general health, happiness, and safety of all children in Sasha's Play Space
    • Interact and develop relationships with the children, their parents, and the fellow staff members in Sasha's
    • Maintain control of children and ensure children are safe and behaving appropriately
    • Enforce room rules and policies kindly but firmly
    • Check telephone messages and take reservations
    • Care for each child in Sasha's Play Space by playing with and engaging them and changing them when necessary

    Certified Personal Trainer

    Looking for energetic, enthusiastic, Certified Personal Trainers who have a passion for helping people achieve their health and fitness goals. Your fitness knowledge, organizational skills, energy, and excellent customer service skills will become instantly identified by your communication skills. You’re 1st priority is to provide orientation and instruction to our members while developing a relationship that could transition them into Personal Training. Your overall goal has to be to help our members maximize workout efficiency, improve fitness, increase stamina, attain their fitness goals and improve their overall health and wellness.


    • Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in Kinesiology, Corporate Fitness, Physical Education, Sports Management, Recreation or a related field.
    • Nationally recognized personal trainer certification, NETA, AFFA, ACSM, NASM, ACE, and NSCA, other specialized certifications upon approval.
    • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) acceptable with Certifications as listed above.
