FT Exempt position


The Director Health & Wellness will report to the COO and will serve as a key member of the Health & Wellness management staff. This person will oversee all areas under health and fitness which includes: Aquatics, Personal Training, Group Ex, Sports and Recreation, Massage, and other special services and programming.


Overall Management
  • Responsible for managing the Health & Fitness Center including the major programs: Group Exercise, Aquatics, Specialty classes, and Personal Training
  • Create innovative, ongoing, fitness programs that recognize and reward member participation and result in keeping members healthy, happy and involved
  • Provide outstanding customer service to members, guests and program participants
  • Responsible for ordering supplies and equipment for health and fitness facilities and ensuring that equipment is properly secured and maintained
  • Maintain ongoing, regular communication with participants in health and fitness programs
  • Work with all other Sabes JCC departments to ensure productive, effective and efficient operation of the Sabes JCC
  • Maintain good relationships with local agencies
  • Participate in the planning and execution of Sabes JCC wide events
  • Conduct regular evaluation of programs and events
  • Maintain program with in Sabes JCC mission, vision, and pillars
  • Other duties and special tasks as assigned

Supervisory Role

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff required for each entity under Health and Fitness (special service instructors, massage therapists, Group Ex instructors, Personal Trainers, floor staff, and Sports and Rec staff).
  • Ensure performance management of staff via ongoing timely performance feedback
  • Model customer service standards in alignment with agency mission

Financial Responsibility

  • Develop and meet budgeted financial targets
  • Maintain records and key statistics
  • Evaluate, update and assist in development of new programs
  • Payroll processing


The ideal candidate for this position will have a four year degree in physical education or related fields with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in the fitness department of a health & fitness facility, driving personal training. This candidate should be self-motivated, detail oriented with superior organizational skills.

  • Possess a current accredited and nationally recognized certification in area(s) of expertise: Certified Personal Trainer and/or Certified Group Fitness Instructor (Preferred)
  • CPR/PR, First Aid, and AED certifications
  • Practical fitness program knowledge and delivery skills

FT Exempt position


The Membership Services Manager reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for all functions connected with our Membership database (Efinnestri) including: input and sales, records management, membership administration, financial reporting, metrics and data evaluation. This position interacts with and is a key liaison with the Accounting Department to ensure accurate billing and reporting. The Membership Services Manager provides back up and support to the Membership Team when needed and is a key member of the team.


  • Assist COO in analyzing Efinnestri data to identify key insights that add value to various departments throughout the entire organization
  • Coordinate, in partnership with the Development Department, database integration between Efinnestri and Razor’s Edge
  • Coordinate collection of JCC user data that is not captured electronically in Efinnestri
  • Maintain accuracy of Efinnestri Database
  • Process (“sell”) all memberships in Efin and renewing memberships
  • Develop and maintain a process to qualify and record detail member data to create a robust database
  • Generate member correspondence, invoices, queries and reports, and mailing lists
  • Support the Chief Operating Officer to review and monitor monthly statistics, enrollment procedures and other data as needed
  • Assist in the development of membership tracking system and data management to help promote/support internal & external marketing plans.
  • Ensure that daily membership enrollment forms are complete/accurate and act as a liaison with the Accounting department.
  • Administer and monitor scholarship program and health insurance reimbursement program memberships (new & conversions)
  • Positively respond to telephone calls from potential members inquiring about new memberships; handle customer concerns in a timely manner responding to all current and new member needs
  • Handle all questions and process paperwork regarding changes in membership status including; cancellations, adding or dropping members, and change of monthly debit information.
  • Serve as a MOD (Manager on Duty) to ensure all operational and member service issues that arise are being handled appropriately
  • Support/back-up the membership team as needed: assist in tours, cross selling prospects interested in JCC memberships and programs


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

PT position


This position will be responsible for the administration of the Adult Basketball League program, communication with team captains and league participants regarding program dates, registration, game play (schedules) and rules and regulations in addition to checking in league players, monitoring adult basketball league and playoff games, supervising referees and scorekeepers and maintaining league statistics and schedules. Knowledge of the sport of basketball, basic knowledge of MN State High School League and JCC Basketball League rules and regulations, the ability to communicate effectively to officials, players, desk staff and Fitness Director, previous experience refereeing, playing and/ or scorekeeping basketball as well as the ability to supervise others are required. Early Childhood Center Educational Specialist

PT Salaried Exempt (30 hours per week)

Closing date: November 15, 2015


The Education Specialist will plan and execute appropriate activities and curriculum; will work collaboratively as part of a team; and is responsible for the safety of the children and providing energetic, warm care. Additionally this individual will serve as a leader and mentor for the teaching staff as well as resource for families and parents.


  • Assist teachers in developing and implementing curriculum to meet the academic, social, emotional and physical needs of the children that align with the developmentally appropriate practices that meet the Minnesota Early Learning Standards.
  • Serve as educational resource for families. Work with Directors to create monthly research based text studies.
  • Develop and implement monthly ECFE classes; providing enriching experiences for children 0-5 and their families.
  • Coordinate ECC enrichment and special events.
  • Coordinate and lead Camp Gesher and Camp Curiosity.
Staff Development
  • Coordinate and document all staff development and continuing education.
  • Work with Directors to plan and implement staff meetings and development
  • Provide support and share resources with classroom teachers.


  • A BA/BS degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
  • Meet Rule 3 DHS requirements for Lead Teacher.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working with children and families.
  • 1-3 years’ experience assisting and mentoring teachers with curriculum.
  • 1-3 years’ experience with behavioral observations and spectrums
  • Familiar with Rule 3 expectations.
  • A passion for working with young children and their families.

Coordinator of Lifeguard and Safety

FT Exempt position


The Coordinator of Lifeguard and Safety provides daily direction and supervision for Lifeguards and Safety staff. The incumbent assists the Program Manager in meeting established participation and revenue goals. The incumbent hires, trains and supervises staff in conjunction with the Program Manager.


  • Works with Program Manager to recruit, hire, on board, train, develop, and supervise staff.
  • Provides daily direction, supervision, and scheduling for Lifeguard and Safety staff and other Aquatics as needed.
  • Assists the Program Manager in the implementation of safe, quality aquatics programs, specifically private lessons, group lessons, Master Swim program, and red-cross classes.
  • Ensures a high level of customer service which enhances the member, program participant and guest experience and satisfaction.
  • Participates in the budget process and manages day to day programing to ensure revenue, program goals, and expense targets are achieved.
  • Assists in the process to ensure the quality, cleanliness and maintenance of and the Aquatics program areas.
  • Perform “hands-on” work on average of 50% of work week. This may include lifeguarding or swim instruction.

Lifeguards, Water Safety Instructors and Water Safety Aides

We are currently looking for fun, energetic, safe and customer service oriented individuals to help staff our indoor pools and outdoor pools for the summer. (Positions available immediately as well!)


Must posses current certification of the following:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent training)
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent training)
  • American Red Cross First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (or equivalent training)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project and promote a professional image
  • Explain and enforce facility regulations, policies, and procedures to patrons
  • Rescue swimmers in need of assistance
  • Demonstrate proper rescue techniques, including but not limited to, swimming rescues, First Aid, and CPR
  • Administer emergency care to patrons in need of assistance
  • Monitor activities of patrons in the water and on deck and minimized the possibility of patron injury
  • Conduct routine chemical test of the water on a daily basis
  • Keep accurate records of incident reports, maintenance, and chemical testing
  • Lifeguard salaries range from $8.50 to $12.00 DOQ


Water Safety Instructor certification is not required for swimming instructors, but strongly preferred.

Member Experience Associate

The Sabes JCC has a Part Time/Full Time opportunity for a customer focused Member Experience Associate. This position will work a variety of shifts at the fitness check-in desk, on the fitness floor and have administrative responsibilities. Successful applicants will have strong experience in face to face customer service excellence and must have an interest and experience in health and wellness.     Fitness Center Attendant

    Staff will provide a high level of customer service for members in our fitness center. Staff is also responsible for general cleanliness of the fitness center and equipment, providing general instruction on the use of equipment, and providing assistance to members when necessary.     Group Exercise Instructor

    This high energy individual will lead members, in a group environment, through a pre-arranged format of exercises designed to enhance overall fitness, strength and endurance, while ensuring that the safety of the members at all times. The Group Exercise Instructor will also serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness and wellness

    Daycare Provider for Sasha's Play Space


    The Sasha's Space provider is responsible for providing a safe, positive and nurturing environment while giving excellent care and customer service for children and parents that are using Sasha's Play Space.


    • Responsible for the general health, happiness, and safety of all children in Sasha's Play Space
