Early Childhood Center - Infant Classroom Teacher

Early Childhood Infant Teacher will plan and execute appropriate activities; observe and evaluate children’s development; and will work collaboratively as part of a team. The Early Childhood Center Infant Teacher is responsible for the safety of the children and providing energetic, warm care.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Working with current coach to maintain and improve the program
  • Provide high-quality customer service to our clients in a manner which reflects the mission and values of the Sabes JCC ECC.
  • Provide a positive and nurturing environment for our children.
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of the children and that align with developmentally appropriate practices that meet the Minnesota Early Learning Standards. This includes creating weekly curriculum connected to center monthly theme; writing daily notes; writing weekly newsletter.
  • To observe health and safety of children and report any condition needing attention, help children with eating, dressing, toileting, and sleeping habits.
  • Observe and keep anecdotal records on child’s development, for conferences with parents twice a year.
  • Assist in the room maintenance to keep the classroom and center safe, clean, attractive, and in compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Provide support and share resources with co-workers.
  • Rotate classroom materials regularly.
  • Know and follow the ECC health and behavior policies and guidelines.
  • Foster and maintain open, friendly and cooperative relationships with families and maintain privacy of families and children.
  • Greet children and parents warmly each day.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and trainings; parent conferences; and other ECC special events.
  • Check and respond to email and voice mail daily.
  • Promote feelings of security and trust in infants and toddlers.
  • Talk, sing, and read to infants frequently.
  • Respond quickly in a soothing and tender manner to infants' cries or calls of distress.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in an early childhood program serving infants and toddlers in a developmentally appropriate environment.
  • Meet Rule 3 DHS requirements for position: Have a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Infant and Toddler Caregivers or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as an Infant and Toddler (I/T) teacher; or bachelor’s degree in similar area.
  • A passion for working with young children and their families.
  • Have effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Be able to use general forms of technology (email, internet, word, publisher, voicemail, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with people at all levels and in all settings relevant to the Sabes JCC organization mission and ECC vision.
  • Ability to relate to a highly diverse environment and to be a team player.
  • Ability to function productively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment, work independently and accept direction.

  • Be able to engage in all classroom daily activities (lifting up to 35 pounds, pushing up to 100 pounds, bending/kneeling/sitting at child level (on floor) for various activities; diapering; assisting with nap time; swimming; and ensuring children are within sight and sound at all times.)
  • Available to work needed hours within 7am-6pm.
  • One year of experience in an early childhood program serving infants and toddlers in a developmentally appropriate environment.
  • Must be able to provide quality, nurturing care to infants and toddlers enrolled in the program. Demonstrate skills to properly address developmental needs of infants and toddlers. Conduct and document developmental screenings and assessments of children.

Swim Coach

The Masters swimming program, referred to as “Swim Coaching and Training” (SCT) has been operating since 2009 and is open to both members and non-members of the JCC. Participants come from a broad spectrum of abilities and interests. While a majority of interests are around triathlon and/or open water swim goals, exercise and basic stroke development are also common goals. Practices are geared toward those interests but vary based on the season. At times a more diverse curriculum may take priority. Practices are conducted on a participant drop-in basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with current coach to maintain and improve the program
  • Writing and conducting practices that address the needs and interests of the participants
  • Working with the aquatic staff to help manage use of the pool during practices that run concurrently with health club hours
  • Filming, on deck stroke analyzing and updating monthly video log
  • Updating email list and welcoming new participants
  • Attend Aquatic department meetings as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years of coaching experience (preferred)
  • Competitive swimming, triathlon and open water swimming experience (preferred)
  • Proficiency in teaching stroke development, stroke correction, proper technique and the ability to communicate with each swimmer at their level of understanding and ability. (required)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask and adjust practices on the fly in order to coach a broad range of abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent writing, listening, and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible schedule to coach practices solo on Sundays and Tuesdays with a possibility of adding additional practices

SUMMARY:

Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors

We are currently looking for fun, energetic, safe and customer service oriented individuals to help staff our indoor pools and outdoor pools for the summer. (Positions available immediately as well!)

Lifeguards:

Must posses current certification of the following:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent training)
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent training)
  • American Red Cross First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (or equivalent training)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project and promote a professional image
  • Explain and enforce facility regulations, policies, and procedures to patrons
  • Rescue swimmers in need of assistance
  • Demonstrate proper rescue techniques, including but not limited to, swimming rescues, First Aid, and CPR
  • Administer emergency care to patrons in need of assistance
  • Monitor activities of patrons in the water and on deck and minimized the possibility of patron injury
  • Conduct routine chemical test of the water on a daily basis
  • Keep accurate records of incident reports, maintenance, and chemical testing

Instructors:

Water Safety Instructor certification is not required for swimming instructors, but strongly preferred.

  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (or equivalent training)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches various levels and age groups in accordance with the Sabes JCC instructional guidelines
  • Plan lessons, select appropriate drills, and evaluate the student’s progress
  • Present proper demonstrations and explain skills, analyze and correct performance, minimize fear, and use appropriate teaching devices

Member Experience Associate

The Sabes JCC has a Part Time/Full Time opportunity for a customer focused Member Experience Associate. This position will work a variety of shifts at the fitness check-in desk, on the fitness floor and have administrative responsibilities. Successful applicants will have strong experience in face to face customer service excellence and must have an interest and experience in health and wellness. In addition, a "can do" attitude, excellent multitasking abilities, computer skills and a passion for fitness is required. Must pass a background check and CPR certification is required within 90 days. Weekend and evening availability is required. Respond with resume and cover letter.

Group Exercise Instructor

This high energy individual will lead members, in a group environment, through a pre-arranged format of exercises designed to enhance overall fitness, strength and endurance, while ensuring that the safety of the members at all times. The Group Exercise Instructor will also serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness and wellness

In addition to a minimum of 6 months teaching in a group exercise format, you must possess a nationally recognized group fitness certification and current CPR/AED certification and basic first aid training.

Daycare Provider for Sasha's Play Space

SUMMARY:

The Sasha's Space provider is responsible for providing a safe, positive and nurturing environment while giving excellent care and customer service for children and parents that are using Sasha's Play Space.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the general health, happiness, and safety of all children in Sasha's Play Space
  • Interact and develop relationships with the children, their parents, and the fellow staff members in Sasha's
  • Maintain control of children and ensure children are safe and behaving appropriately
  • Enforce room rules and policies kindly but firmly
  • Check telephone messages and take reservations
  • Care for each child in Sasha's Play Space by playing with and engaging them and changing them when necessary
  • Communicate concerns or problems to Sasha's Play Space Coordinator
  • Wash toys after each shift and puts the room back together. Help maintain the condition of the equipment and room
  • Make sure that the ratios in the room are maintained. This includes, but is not limited to, making and checking reservations and checking the signing in/out.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Excellent customer service and personal skills with both members and fellow staff
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Good team participant
  • 3-5 years experience working with children
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • CPR and first aid certified

Certified Personal Trainer

Looking for energetic, enthusiastic, Certified Personal Trainers who have a passion for helping people achieve their health and fitness goals. Candidates must be fearless yet respectable, possess a high level of energy, the ability to strike up a conversation and build instant trust with complete strangers. Your fitness knowledge, organizational skills, energy, and excellent customer service skills will become instantly identified by your communication skills. You’re 1st priority is to provide orientation and instruction to our members while developing a relationship that could transition them into Personal Training. Your overall goal has to be to help our members maximize workout efficiency, improve fitness, increase stamina, attain their fitness goals and improve their overall health and wellness.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in Kinesiology, Corporate Fitness, Physical Education, Sports Management, Recreation or a related field.
  • Nationally recognized personal trainer certification, NETA, AFFA, ACSM, NASM, ACE, and NSCA, other specialized certifications upon approval.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) acceptable with Certifications as listed above.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills and proven ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills--written and verbal, effectively communicate with members and other team members.
  • Additional Specialty Certifications welcome in: H.I.I.T., Endurance Sports, biking, running, swimming.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to stand walk, sit climb, balance, stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform required personal training skills and techniques as required by certification.
