Your Fortunate Eyes:
Works by Rudi Weissenstein with acompanying work by Ann Ginsburgh Hofkin February 5 - March 18, 2013 Born in Iglau, today part of Czech Republic, in 1910 and immigrated to Palestine in 1936, Rudi Weissenstein traveled through the country during the early years of statehood, documenting the fifth wave of immigration, new settlements, Tel Aviv civil unrest, parades and processions, urban life and more. His desire and ability to record the political, social, ideological, and artistic essence of the period, truly captures the development of the state. Weissenstein’s award-winning work has been recognized worldwide. Accompanying YOUR FORTUNATE EYES will be the timeless work by local artist Ann Ginsburgh Hofkin who has photographed Israel’s landscape during her many visits. Hofkin states, “I explore the local landscape and consider its historical significance as it relates to both natural phenomena and conflicts over thousands of years.” Ginsburgh Hofkin has exhibited her work all over the world, including many solo exhibitions of her photography in Israel. |
