JUNE 10 – JULY 19
(ENTERING GRADES 6–12 IN FALL 2019)
It’s time to carry the banner with Disney’s Newsies! Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged “newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right!
An intensive, six-week program teaches the fundamentals of theater, music, and dance – all in the process of creating a fully-staged production of the musical, Newsies! All participants will perform in the show and will work with professional theater artists who will coach them in the improvement of their acting, singing, and dance skills. Participants will engage in daily theater and improve games, participate in workshops such as costume make-up and set design, go swimming in the JCC’s outdoor pool, and make meaningful friendships through the theater ensemble they’ll build. Space is limited so register early!

KIDCREATE STUDIO’S MESSIEST ART CAMP EVER!
June 10 – 14; 9am–4pm
Does your young artist love to get messy? So do we! Paint with plaster, sculpt with gooey gunk, make paper maché dragonflies and fling paint like Jackson Pollock. Even learn some art terms along the way. These are not projects to tackle at home – leave the mess with us!
July 22 – 26; 9am–4pm
PERFORMANCE: Thursday, August 25 at 7pm
What does it take to get cast in a show? How do you expand your role possibility? How do you have the “perfect” audition? This intensive camp will address these questions and put them into action by choosing monologues to work on with the YPP directors and other outside directors from the Twin Cities theater community. Get ready for answers to the big question: What does it takes to make it as a theater professional?
